Her expertise lies in working with children who are experiencing anxious and depressive symptoms, as well as with children who have experienced trauma. Amanda is wonderfully skilled in supporting parents and in attachment/relational work that nurtures the connection between children and their parents. She operates from a family systems perspective, specifically highlighting the importance of the parent-child relationship.

Amanda also uses play therapy approaches in her work, and is adept at connecting with children and young people across the developmental span. In addition to her work with The Wishing Star Lapointe Developmental Clinic, Amanda supports children, adolescents, and parents in her role as a Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Amanda is also a certified facilitator of the Connect Parent Group. She brings energy and enthusiasm to the work that she does in a family-centered way that resonates with her clients long after they have finished counselling.
