Rebecca Mitchell has a Master’s Degree in Developmental Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Rebecca provides counselling and community education services to parents, caregivers and other « big people » significant in the lives of children. Typically parents seek support with questions around discipline, behavior challenges, anxiety in their child and general emotional well-being. Her parent counselling support over the past 20 years has been based on understanding the neuroscience of relational needs (attachment), as well as the science of child development. This perspective helps to make sense of children’s behaviour, communication and underlying needs, putting parents and other « big people » in the confident lead role of growing up children. Rebecca is a licensed facilitator of The Circle of Security Parenting™ program (COS-P). She utilizes this program both in community and in private sessions. When parents are feeling confused or lost as to what a child might need, what their behavior is telling them, or are wanting a clear path to growing up children in the best possible way, COS-P can help to meet this goal. Rebecca approaches her work with knowledge, compassion and understanding. As a mother of two boys herself, she appreciates both the joys and frustrations (!) that come with the role of being that significant big person for a child.
