Shamma is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) holding a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Regina, as well as Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Physiology from McGill University and the University of Regina. Shamma is skilled in both neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments of children and young adults. Shamma’s core goal in all of her assessment activities is to ensure that children and students are understood and championed to be the best that they can be. Shamma also has a long history of providing counseling and consultation support to both children and parents. Her focus is always to create a safe space for clients to understand the dynamics behind all behaviour, and to focus on awakening new ways of understanding, communicating, and interacting. Shamma’s areas of expertise include the support of children and youth (and their parents) who are suffering from the effects of anxiety and depression. Her passion lays in seeing young people overcome obstacles so that happiness, growth, and success can be realized. Shamma’s practice is unique in that, while she is backed by her academic credentials and past work in the Kelowna school district, her approach has also been influenced by her 23 years of teaching music to students of all ages. Shamma has a powerful desire to relate to those who are in need, the well-honed ability to connect with them, and the tools to help them move forward.
