Dr. Deborah Amaral (R.Psych) has worked in special education for 35 years, as a teacher, psychologist, and District Principal for Student Support Services for School District No. 46 on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. Deborah also has many years of teaching experience with the Special Education Teaching Assistant Program on the Sunshine Coast, and as a sessional instructor at UBC and SFU in the area of academic assessment. Deborah is pleased to provide specialized consultation for parents of Wishing Star Lapointe Developmental Clinic clients when the complexities of navigating the school system in an advocacy position for their child with learning exceptionalities feel overwhelming. She is abundantly familiar with this system and has proven invaluable in her ability to expertly guide parents and work together with schools in order to maximize supports and understanding.
